Historical Sketch

The EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH was founded in 1916. The founding Pastor was Rev. Erastus Lucas. Services were held initially in homes; and on August 16,1916, the EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH was born. Its birth began in a one-room school building, which stood only a few yards from where the present church now stands.  EBENEZER continues to witness for Christ and has multiplied in its ministry, membership and facilities.

In November 1970, the EBENEZER BAPTIST CHURCH, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, sought a Pastor. The Church was led to ask Rev. Thomas L. Walker to serve; he came ready and willing to let God use him to his Glory. EBENEZER IS a community based church whose membership is representative of all aspects of the community. Biblical teaching is available to give the New and Growing Christian a full diet of spiritual food. In addition, efforts are being made to meet the individual's material needs through the EBC ATOM program which provides food, clothing, counseling, and other needs. 

I Samuel 7:12 gives us our name and its meaning, "Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpeh and Shen and called the name of it Ebenezer saying, 'hitherto hath the Lord helped us.'
